A family's home.

Mas Palou is not a hotel. It’s our home, and the center of our everyday life. We live here, work the land, raise our children, and welcome guests.

This place exists because we want to protect and share a way of living—rooted in history, shaped by the seasons, and kept intentionally small. We’ve chosen not to scale, not to chase trends. Just to keep it real, easy, and human.

History

Our family has cared for this land since the early 14th century—at least 16 generations, probably more. Mas Palou has grown slowly over time, always responding to the needs of the moment: a chapel dedicated to Saint James in 1623, a large cellar to hold the wine at the end of the 1800s, a swimming pool built when summer days got hotter.

This continuity isn’t about nostalgia—it’s about responsibility. We’re proud to be one of the few estates in the region with such a long and living legacy.

Before it became a gorgeous place to host events, our wine cellar was a working space.

Anna and Maria brought winemaking back to Mas Palou, after many decades in which we focused only on growing and selling grapes.

Hosting

People have always passed through Mas Palou—on their way to Montserrat, or simply in search of rest, food, and good company. On the main façade and again in the chapel, you’ll see an old engraving: a round loaf of bread and an egg (pa i ou, in Catalan). These were the essentials once offered to travelers, so central to the spirit of hospitality that they gave our family its name: Palou.

We don’t offer a fancy service; we open our doors. A few weddings, artist residencies, company offsites, and long family lunches—always with care, never on autopilot. If you’re looking for something soulful and personal, you’ll feel at home here.

Nature

We’ve always been farmers. Grapes and olive trees suit this dry Mediterranean soil, and tending to them is still our main work. We farm organically, not because it’s fashionable, but because it’s the right way to take care of the land that takes care of us.

When you visit, expect overalls, not uniforms. You’ll find nature not manicured, but alive—vines rustling in the wind, wild herbs underfoot, birdsong overhead. It’s not a backdrop but the heart of the whole thing.

Santi

This is our dad. Born among the vines, and never really left. Usually found on a tractor or pacing the rows, scanning the horizon like a man in constant conversation with the weather. (Is it raining? No. It never is. True Pagès energy.) He loves a long lunch, a short play, good jazz, and even better vermouth. His humor is bone-dry and expertly timed. You’ve been warned.

Adelina

Adelina is our mom. A self-taught cook with serious chops and an eye for every detail. Finds suspicious joy in home renovations and has a gift for turning any space into something beautiful. Sets a table like she’s directing a scene. Officially retired, though someone forgot to tell her—she’s busier than ever. Loves a good book, a blank page (she’s a writer too), and a new restaurant. It runs in the family.

Maria

Maria is the older sister. Studied at Columbia, traveled half the world for years, then came home to put down roots. A creative with a sommelier’s palate, she runs our weddings and captures our life in images. Loves films, dark memes, watching the seasons change, and tracking down the next great food destination.

Anna

Anna is the youngest. A humanist and enologist in training. A true Renaissance woman who can edit a book as easily as she masters an Excel sheet. In charge of the books—literally, the bookkeeping, but also the books for our wine and book club. She’s the cellar master and oversees the vineyard, crafting the wines from vine to bottle. You’ll catch her mixing fresh must in the cellar or scouting the latest wine bar.

Pisca

Pisca is our dog—a Malinois and German Shepherd mix. A free spirit, full of energy but no biter. Throw something, and she’ll fetch it—again and again. Be warned! Loved by everyone, she even enjoys chilling with the chickens.

And if you think we should team up, don’t hesitate to reach out.
