Alexis Convento is a queer, 2nd-generation Filipino-American artist living abroad. As Ulam, she creates experiences that bring together personal storytelling, edible installation and performative score; she connects ancestral narratives with those of labor and care. With each happening, Alexis hopes to create the possibility for thoughtful exchange and collective reflection. They have hosted Kamayan feasts based on the Manila Galleon Trade Route, created a cocktail meant to be experienced as tears, and held one-on-one spoon feeding interactions between server/giver and guest/receiver. Alexis lives in Berlin, Germany, and is also Lead in Production and Planning at LAS Art Foundation.
