Marta Ribas Ortiz (Barcelona, 1992) is a multidisciplinary designer and visual artist. In 2014 she graduated in graphic design from the Escola Elisava in Barcelona and in 2016 she moved to Vancouver, Canada.
The beginning of her creative career focused on design, but the change of residence, the opportunity of time and the desire to experiment with new ways of visual expression will make her practice begin to turn towards a more artistic direction. The vastness of the landscape of this new place will give her space, not only geographical but also creative, to start painting and collage. Her artistic work is mainly abstract and is closely linked to experiences with the natural environment and the geography that surrounds her.
In 2018 she studied the postgraduate degree in Contemporary Applied Arts at the Escola Massana, where she expanded her work to new materials such as ceramics and glass and textiles. Techniques that, through their artisanal nature, allow him to continue reflecting on the relationship between man and nature, the main object of study of his work.
