Any questions?

Where can I eat around here?

We’ll send you our complete regional guide full of great food and wine spots as soon as you book.

Where can I get groceries?

You’ll find supermarkets just 12 minutes away in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia. Options include Esclat, Mercadona, and Casa Ametller (which is also open on Sunday mornings).

What is Mas Palou?

Mas Palou is our family-run vineyard and guesthouse, rooted in the Mediterranean way of life. We host guests in beautiful spaces and also offer tailored events, space rentals, wine and olive oil made on-site, art residencies, and a wine and book club.

What’s the weather like in February/March?

The average minimum temperature (usually the minimum temperature is noted during the night) in our area in March is 11.0°C (51.8°F). The amount of rain in March is normal with an average of 36mm (1.4in). It rains on average a total of 6 days. You can expect very pleasant temperatures during the day. The average maximum daytime temperature lies around 17.5°C (63.5°F).

What are the work spaces like?
  • Communal work space: there is a spacious coworking area with several desks next to the villas that can be used.
  • Each of the two villas have common areas to work.
  • All outdoor areas can be used (swimming pools will not be available in February) and there is plenty of nature at walking distance.
  • In case an artist needs a private space we will do our best to accommodate as there are a few options. Our estate is very spacious so it won’t be a problem to accommodate 7 people..
What if we are an art collective?

That’s cool! We can accept a collective of 2 or 3 people maximum. You will be sleeping in the same room (2 to 3 twin beds), though. The application fee is 30€ for the whole group.

Can I come with my spouse/child?

So sorry, we are limiting the number of artists this year so that won’t be possible.

Residents are not permitted overnight visitors at Mas Palou.

Is Mas Palou accessible for persons with disabilities?

Unfortunately, no. The guesthouses are old and all rooms are on the 1st floor with stairs. But some of the outdoors (for weddings) are accessible.

What should I bring?

Personal items: Any medication, toiletries, weather-appropriate clothing, and supplies/materials needed during the residency. There are scheduled trips to the local grocery store that residents may join as needed.

Residents must bring or arrange to purchase while in residence all supplies required during their stay. It is recommended that residents bring a laptop if regular computer use is desired.

International travelers: Mas Palou does not provide international power adapters for electronic devices – please bring one if you are traveling from another country and plan to use your personal electronic devices. Residents traveling from another country should convert currency to € before arriving, as it is very difficult to do so in the immediate area.

What if I don’t have a car?

That’s fine! Check the previous question regarding arrivals, and as for shopping we will do a couple of grocery runs for those who want to get groceries but don’t have a car.

How do I get to mas Palou?

Residents will be expected to arrive and leave during the time slot indicated in the schedule (not earlier or later). Please be mindful of that when booking flights.

You can drive or you can take public transportation. There are buses and trains from Barcelona and you’ll need a taxi from the station to get here, which will be about 30€. There are trains from the airport as well, and a cab ride from there is about 95€. We are planning on running a shuttle service on the day of arrival from the train station.

Languages

Feel free to apply in English, Spanish or Catalan. The residency will have English as a primary language.

How much is the residency?

The stay is free except for the food, and travel to and from Mas Palou. It includes accommodation in a room for yourself (or your art collective if it’s more than one person) in a beautiful villa you’ll share with other artists, with access to a kitchen and to plenty of space to work. You won’t be sharing a room with any strangers. Bathrooms are shared.

There will be a couple of meals included but otherwise you can cook your own food in the kitchen or go to a local restaurant.

The villa has access to high-speed wi-fi as well as a fully-equipped kitchen and on-site laundry facilities. Mas Palou does not provide personal laptops or electronic devices, or any other art materials. There will be some scheduled trips to the grocery store (see schedule) as well as some field trips to local museums. Additional details will be provided upon acceptance to the program. Keep in mind there are no grocery stores at walking distance.

What is this about?

We are Mas Palou, a family-run estate that includes a vineyard (yes, we produce our own natural wine!), olive grove, agriturismo, and events venue. Our family has lived here since around year 1500 and we love to share the Mediterranean lifestyle with people from all over the world. Arts and culture got us through the pandemic so we decided to start an art residency to celebrate art and artists. This residency is supported thanks to our guests, individuals and companies, who book stays and retreats at Mas Palou.

We want to thank wineries Bertha, Can Sumoi, Raventós i Blanc, Codorníu, Gramona and Nadal who collaborated offering their products and tours during the last residencies.

We want to invite up to 7 artists / collectives from around the world to spend 11 days at our estate and work on their crafts. Absolutely any artistic discipline is welcome here. Expect to meet amazing people from all over the world, dialogue, time to create and think, food, and wine. Expect to become part of Mas Palou and to meet locals who will blow your mind. Exciting things will happen. You can check some of our highlights on Instagram to get a sense of what the lasts residencies were like.

In return, Mas Palou gets your delightful company and an art contribution from you to us (be it a physical piece, a concert, performance, etc). You can tell us more about it in your proposal.

There will be a final event with press and guests where everyone will share their work.

You can take a look at our Instagram and TikTok to see what some of our last residencies looked like.
